Wrestlers-Cops Face-Off At Jantar Mantar

On Wednesday night, a number of wrestlers were hit on the head with two severely injured.

One of them fell unconscious there and had to be taken to a hospital immediately for treatment.

According to the police, AAP MLA Somnath Bharti reached the spot with folding beds without any prior permission.

When the police intervened, a minor altercation broke out between both.  

The AAP leader and two others were detained in this incident, police said.

"A drunk policeman abused Vinesh Phogat and got involved in a scuffle with us," said former wrestler Rajveer.

Olympian and Commonwealth Games Gold medallist Geeta Phogat has said that her younger brother Dushyant Phogat's head "was cracked open".

Asian and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Vinesh Phogat said they are not criminals to be treated in such a way.

"If you want to kill us, then just kill us," Ms. Phogat said crying.

Bajrang Punia, said, "I request the government to take back all the medals I have won till now."

A large police force has been deployed at the protest site and the area has been barricaded completely.

Media personnel are not allowed to reach the wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar.
