Yogi Adityanath's massive BJP rally in Mainpuri

Schools in the constituency have been closed…

On Friday, 02 December 2022, UP CM Yogi is all set to campaign for the BJP in Mainpuri, the Samajwadi Party bastion where a parliamentary by poll will be held on December 5.

All schools have been closed as heavy traffic may cause inconvenience to students and their parents.

On Friday, all schools from Class 1 to 12 will remain closed in the parliamentary constituency, where a by-election was necessitated by the death of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The district inspector of schools, Mainpuri, in an order, said heavy traffic due to the rally may cause extreme inconvenience to the students and parents.

On Monday, Yogi Adityanath, while on the campaign trail in Mainpuri, mocked socialist leader Shivpal Singh Yadav for changing sides, likening him to a pendulum.

Yadav, who had parted away from the SP headed by his nephew, is now campaigning for the SP candidate.

Akhilesh Yadav's wife is contesting in the elections, by polls are scheduled in Rampur and Khatauli assembly seats on December 5.

The SP has declared Asim Raza as the party contender in the by poll for Rampur that was necessitated following the disqualification of senior leader Azam Khan after he was convicted by a local court and awarded three years’ imprisonment in a hate speech case. The BJP has chosen Khan’s detractor, Akash Saxena, as its candidate.

Though the outcome of this election will not have any impact on the state government, which enjoys a majority, the stakes are high for Azam Khan to safeguard his prestige in Rampur, where his influence reigned supreme for nearly five decades.
