The death count raises to 5,28,961!
New Delhi: On Monday, India reported a total of 1,334 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the Covid-tally to 4,46,44,076.
The death count due to coronavirus has gone up to 5,28,977 with 16 more fatalities, according to the Union health ministry.
The active cases account for 0.05 per cent of the total caseload, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.76 per cent, the ministry said.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.24 per cent and the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.99 per cent, according to the health ministry.
On Monday, Delhi recorded 53 fresh Covid cases with an increased positivity rate of 3.26 per cent and one death due to the disease, according to the health department data.
With these new cases, the capital’s infection tally climbed to 20,05,676 while the death toll stood at 26,508, the department said in its latest bulletin.
The new cases were detected from 1,625 tests conducted on Sunday, it said.
The Delhi government had on Thursday issued an order withdrawing the Rs 500 fine for not wearing masks in public places in the national capital.
Experts, however, said people, especially those in the vulnerable category like pregnant women and the elderly, should continue to wear masks in crowded areas now as well.
Doctors at government and private hospitals in the city said that people should exercise because though cases in Delhi are on the lower side, but a new variant of the covid is being reported which is very transmissible
