1,675 New Covid-19 Cases In India In 24 Hours

The active cases comprise 0.03 per cent of the total infections!


New Delhi: On Tuesday, 24 May 2022, India reported 1,675 new coronavirus cases, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,31,40,068, while the active cases increased to 14,841, according to the Union Health Ministry.

The number of Covid-related deaths reached 5,24,490 with 31 more people dying due to the virus, the updated data showed.

The active cases comprise 0.03 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.75 per cent, the ministry said.

Delhi recorded 520 new Covid-19 cases and one more death last week, while the positivity rate declined to 2.09 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.

With the new cases, Delhi’s Covid-19 caseload increased to 19,02,180, while the death toll rose to 26,199.

On Sunday, The national capital had recorded 365 new cases with 530 recoveries and one death. The positivity rate has also dropped to below 2%.

A total of 24,918 Covid-19 tests were conducted a day ago, the department said in its latest health bulletin. The total active cases in the city is now at 1,819.

18,75,802 have recovered from the deadly novel coronavirus in the city.  

“There has been a significant decline in new cases over the past few weeks. This is really good. But we have to keep our guards up. Surveillance to check for new variants has to continue,” Dr. Neeraj Nischal, additional professor in the department of medicine, said.
