1 dead in landslide in Shimla; cloudbursts

Heavy rainfall in Himachal’s Kullu!


On Tuesday, Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu witnessed cloudburst scenario and during an incessant rainfall, a girl was killed while two others suffered injuries after a landslide hit the Dhali area of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh in evening.


According to the information, The girl was sleeping on the roadside when the landslide occurred. The injured people were rescued and admitted to a hospital. Some vehicles were also hit by the debris.


Heavy rainfall due to cloudbursts was also witnessed in Kullu on Tuesday. SP Kullu, Gurudev Sharma, said that a search is underway for four people who went missing amid the flash floods.


According to the India Meteorological Centre in Shimla, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely to occur at a few places in the districts of Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Mandi and Una on Wednesday.


According to the state given by Sharma, “Due to the floods, seven houses have suffered heavy damage while three projects have also been affected. Water from a dam is being released and people have been asked not to go near the river banks, "said Sharma.

 

In addition to this, several areas of Punjab and Haryana continued to brave heavy downpours during this period.


In the landslide reported near the Dhalli tunnel in Shimla, a woman died while two others, including a man and a woman, were injured. The victims, said to be migrant workers, were sleeping in a roadside tent when the incident occurred, said sources. The injured have been taken to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Some vehicles were also hit by the debris.
