100% occupancy in movie theaters revoked in Tamil Nadu

The movie theaters were up until recently allowed to have 100% occupancy which was then revoked by the Centre

100% in movie theaters are not yet allowed yet, the Union Home Affairs Ministry told Tamil Nadu today. The country's AIADMK government, which lifted restrictions on movie theaters last week, was told to take away its order to make that grant. The Union’s Home Affairs Department has so far allowed 50 percent to stay in movie theaters without content venues as part of the phased opening process. To give the state a reminder, a letter from Union Secretary of Home Affairs Ajay Bhalla said the Department of Home Affairs had extended those guidelines until January 31.

"Government / UT governments will not disregard these guidelines ... in any way and they must adhere strictly to them," reads the letter, referring to departmental guidelines. The letter also quoted a Supreme Court order requiring states to enforce Covid's code of conduct, including the wearing of masks and maintaining social isolation. Tamil Nadu was the first state to allow 100 percent to stay in movie theaters. “In view of the above, GoTN (Government of Tamil Nadu) is requested to immediately issue the necessary directives to guide their guidelines in accordance with the MHA guidelines dated 28 December 2020 and to comply with this service," the letter read.

Tamil Nadu, which opened 50 per cent of the stadium halls in November, will hold a general election later this year. 100 percent residence permit was issued two days ago following requests from several film actors for augmenting power before Pongal. In accordance with a notice issued by the national government, to alert observers, COVID-19 precautionary measures will also be considered during the viewing period.
