14,000 New Covid Cases In India In 24 Hours

The active cases comprise 0.21 per cent of the total infection.


New Delhi: On Wednesday, India reported nearly 14,506 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,34,33,345. 

 

According to the Union Health Ministry data updated on thursday, the active cases rose to 99,602.

 

The death count reached to 5,25,077 with 30 new fatalities in India.

 

The active cases comprise 0.21 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid recovery rate was recorded 98.58 per cent, the ministry said.

 

Tamil Nadu's daily covid cases rising sharply as 1,472 infections were logged on Sunday, taking  the caseload to 34,68,344.

 

The death count remained same at 38,026 with no new Covid-related death were recorded in the last 24 hours, a Health bulletin informed.

 

The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Wednesday said that the COVID-19 pandemic is changing but it is not over and warned that the cases are rising in 110 nations.

 

Director-General of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that "This pandemic is changing but it's not yet over. Our ability to track the virus is under threat as reporting and genomic sequences are declining meaning it is becoming difficult to track Omicron and analyse future emerging new variants."

The death count remained unchanged at 38,026 with no new Covid-related death were recorded in the last 24 hours, a medical bulletin said.

 

"COVID-19, driven by BA.4 and BA.5 in many places, cases increasing in 110 countries, causing overall global cases to increase by 20 per cent and deaths have risen in 3 of the 6 WHO regions even as the global figure remains relatively stable."
