14-day statewide lockdown in Tamil Nadu


Covid-19 cases are creating an alarming situation in the country, where again few states are witnessing lockdown for 14 days or extending it for a week.

Meanwhile, a recent update came from Tamil Nadu imposing a 14-day lockdown statewide. The lockdown will imply from 10th May.  According to the Chief Minister, MK Stalin, in a statement said that the lockdown was being enforced due to "unavoidable circumstances'' he added that, The decision was taken based on the inputs received at a review meeting he had with district collectors on Friday. He also said that the total lockdown will be enforced from 4 am on 10 May to 4 am on 24 May.

Talking about the active and inactive services in the state, The order said that banks will be allowed with 50 per cent of the staff and ration shops with the same capacity will remain open. only takeaways for the restaurants will be allowed. Cabs and auto rickshaws will be active but only for hospital emergency, wedding or funeral purposes.

Cases in Tamil Tamil Nadu spiked during campaigning, as all major parties held election rallies in which social distancing was ignored.
