New Delhi: On Wednesday, 11 January 2023, India reported 171 fresh coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours and the number of active cases went up to 2,342, according to Union health ministry data.

The total number of Covid-19 cases now stood at 4.46 crore (4,46,80,215).

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.09 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate stood at 0.11 per cent.

The website also stated that a total of 2,20,14,63,312 people were vaccinated for coronavirus infections, with more than 56,829 people receiving the injections in one day.

At present, the death toll accounts for 1.19 per cent of the total number of cases reported of the infection in the country.

The case count has remained low in the past six weeks, which caused an initial scare after a surge in neighbouring China late last month.

Karnataka, where new cases had more than doubled last week, has also reported a slight decline.

In a bid to keep the covid case numbers down, Noida police have imposed section 144 of the CrPC till January 31 in Gautam Buddh Nagar.

This decision, police said, was taken to avoid the spread of the Covid-19 cases during the upcoming festivals, and as a security measure to avoid any malfunction on Republic Day as well.
