18,000 New Covid Cases In India In 24 Hours

Number of death tally rose to 5,26,167


New Delhi: On Wednesday, India reported a total of 18,313 new Covid-19 cases, taking the overall number of Covid-related infections in the country to 4,39,38,764.

The active COVID-19 cases decreased to 1,45,026, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated.

According to government data, India also reported 57 Covid-related fatalities, taking the total number of deaths to 5,26,167.

The active cases comprise 0.35 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.45 per cent, the ministry said.

On Wednesday, Delhi recorded 1,066 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 6.91 per cent along with two fatalities, according to data shared by the health department in the National Capital.

On the fifth day the positivity rate has been recorded above five per cent.

With the fresh cases, the infection count in the national capital rose to 19,50,802, while the death count mounted to 26,307.

The number of tests conducted the previous day was 15,433. The number of active cases of the disease in Delhi now stands at 3,239, up from 2,862 the previous day.

Nearly 1,989 COVID-19 patients are under home isolation, the data showed.

On Tuesday, Delhi reported 781 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 6.40 per cent along with two fatalities.

The capital had logged 463 covid-19 cases and two fatalities due to the disease as the positivity rate climbed to 8.18 per cent, highest in the month, according to city health department data updated on Monday.
