Around 19 laborers out of them one laborer died and 18 others are missing near the Indo-China border in Arunachal Pradesh's Kurung Kumey district.

According to the information, the laborers were involved in road works in Damin, when they went missing a week ago.

As per the statement given by Deputy Commissioner Bengia Nighee, one dead body was found. But as per local reports, there is a buzz that all laborers have drowned in the Kumey River in Damin.

According to him, 18 labourers are still missing. A rescue team will be sent to the project side to find the missing laborers and to verify the reports that all laborers drowned in the Kumey River.

According to a missing complaint filed by the contractor under whom these 19 migrant labourers who had come from Assam were working, the labourers had allegedly fled the labour camps at the road construction site of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in Damin circle on July 5 after the contractor reportedly denied them leave to go back to their homes in Assam to celebrate Eid al-Adha last week.

The Border Roads Organization (BRO) has been constructing a vast network of infrastructural projects in northeastern states, and these laborers were brought in to complete road works in Damin circle, a remote area near the Indo-China border.

The LAC with China is about 80 km from Damin, the last administrative circle in that area, officials said.
