After Pulwama encounter in JK, 2 terrorist surrender with AK-47


In Jammu Kashmir’s Pulwama, two terrorist surrendered today after an encounter broke out in Lelhar district of the area, said the police. In the clash that took place a terrorist was injured and is now hospitalized said the Kashmir Zone police via a tweet. The two surrendered terrorists also gave in two AK-47 rifles and the encounter had started at 8pm on Friday it added.

The cordon and search operations were launched by the security forces at Lelhar on Friday night in the Kakapora area of the district following the information of terrorists being present there, the officials said. They added that the search operations turned into an encounter after the hiding terrorists open fired and after a night of standoff between the two terrorists surrendered with their rifles.

The two terrorists were identified as Akeel Ahmed Lone and Rouf Ul Islam and it is yet not clear immediately to which terrorist group they belonged. Lone sustained injuries in his right foot and was taken to the police hospital. In Pulwama’s Awantipora area on Friday three Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed in an encounter. The Inspector General of Police in Kashmir said “The Police, Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned the area. The encounter started after the militants refused appeals of surrender and lobbed grenades at the police personnel. Three terrorist associated with Hizbul Mujahideen were eliminated.”
