Active Covid-19 cases decreased to 1,43,988!


New Delhi: India recorded a total of 20,409 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the overall number of Covid-related infections in the country to 4,39,79,730.

The active COVID-19 cases decreased to 1,43,988, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

According to government Health data, On Friday, India also reported 47 Covid-related fatalities, taking the total number of deaths to 5,26,258.

The active cases comprise 0.9 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.5 per cent, the ministry said.

On Friday, Delhi recorded 1,245 fresh Covid cases, the highest single-day rise in over a month, with a positivity rate of 7.36 per cent while one more person succumbed to the viral disease, according to the health department.

The daily count of coronavirus cases also touched the 1,000-mark for the third day, while the positivity rate in the city was above five per cent for the seventh day in a row.

On Thursday, Delhi had recorded 1,128 Covid cases with a positivity rate of 6.56 per cent, and zero death.

With the fresh infections, the Covid case tally in the national capital rose to 19,53,175, while the death count rose to 26,308. 16,924 tests were conducted the previous day to detect Coronavirus.

Recently, Delhi has 3,844 active cases, up from 3,526 the previous day. Nearly 2,355 Covid patients are in home isolation.
