24 died for consuming suspected spurious liquor in Bihar

The authorities of both districts haven't confirmed the cause of death


 Bettiah/Gopalganj: 24 people reported dead due to the consumption of suspected spurious liquor in the parts of Gopalganj in Bihar in the last two days.

According to the district officials, almost 8 people died on Thursday after allegedly consuming hooch in Telhua village at Bettiah, the headquarters of West Champaran district. 16 deaths were reported last night.

As per the report, the authorities of both districts haven't confirmed the cause of death till now.

According to the Bihar Minister Janak Ram said, "I have visited the houses of persons who died allegedly because of consuming spurious liquor. It could be a conspiracy to slander the NDA government."

"Some people have died under strange circumstances in Muhammadpur village in the district. The cause of death is not confirmed as post-mortem reports are still awaited. Three teams are probing the case," said the senior officer Anand Kumar.

"Some families have cremated the bodies of the deceased already," said local police. "Four suspects have arrested between Wednesday and Thursday," they added.

Out of the dead, 4 of them were going through treatment in the hospital.

The investigation has started after the incident in the West part of the Champaran district.

During the interrogation, the villagers spoke up about the consumption of liquor done by the victims. They told the police that 8 of them consumed liquor from the Chamartoli area of Telhua village on Wednesday evening. After consuming liquor, the condition of eight of them worsened and then was taken to the nearby hospital where they died today.

The NDA Govt. is working on this issue for the betterment of society.
