40 thousand coronavirus cases recorded in last 111 days in India

During the last 24 hours, 40953 new cases were reported and 188 infected people died. The total number of infected people in the country so far has gone up to 11555284 and the number of deaths has increased to 159558.


Amidst the second wave of Covid in India, the highest number of new cases reported today in the last 111 days. During the last 24 hours, 40,953 new cases were reported and 188 infected people died. The data details were released by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday morning. With this, the total number of infected people in the country so far has risen to 1,15,55,284 and the number of deaths has gone up to 1,59,558.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 23,24,31,517 sample tests have been done for the corona virus in the country so far, of which 10,60,971 samples were tested only on Friday yesterday. At the same time, a total of 4,20,63,392 people have been vaccinated with the coronavirus. The total number of active cases in the country is now 2,88,394 and the total number of discharged cases is 1,11,07,3.

The 24-hour figure released by the Union Health Ministry is the highest this year. These new cases of infection on the tenth consecutive day are 2.49 percent of the total infection cases. Earlier, on November 29 last year, 41,810 new cases were registered within a 24-hour period.

On 7 August 2019, the number of infected in the country had crossed 20 lakhs, while on 23 August, 30 lakhs. Then comes September. There were 40 lakh cases of infection across the country on 5 September, 50 lakhs on 16 September, 60 million on 28 September. At the same time, by 20 November, the total number of infected people has exceeded 90 million and on December 19, these figures crossed 1 crore.
