400 companies of central will be deployed to the state of Tripura

This is to ensure “free, fair, and peaceful” elections...


On Wednesday a senior police officer in Tripura said that around 400 companies of central forces will be deployed in Tripura to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections towards the end of this month. .

 

“Around 200 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will be arriving here by first week of February for area domination, patrolling and flag march apart from counter insurgency operations” assistant inspector General (Law & Order) Jyotishman Das Chowdhury said.  He continued to say that in total 400 companies of central forces will be deployed in the state to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections. “This will be an addition to the states own security personnel and BSF Jawans who guard the Indo- Bangladesh border” the officer said. 

 

The Assmebly elections in the state is supposed to start from 16th of Feb and out of the 3328 polling booths, 1100 has been categorised as ‘sensitive’ and 28 were identified as ‘critical’, Mr Chowdhury said.  Contraband worth Rs 5.89 crores has been seized by security forces in the last few weeks he said, adding, adding firearms were also recovered by the law enforcement agencies.
