Total number of fatalities reached 5,30,601!
New Delhi: On Thursday, India saw a single-day rise of 408 Covid cases, taking the coronavirus infections tally to 4,46,70,483, while active cases further reduced to 5,881.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the country also reported five deaths, taking the total number of fatalities to 5,30,601.
Meanwhile, with more than 30,000 cases in 24 hours, China has seen a sharp rise in Covid cases which is breaking the previous high set on April 13, 2022.
Under the covid vaccination drive, more than 219.88 crore vaccine doses have been administered to the people across the country.
“Covid will never be in an endemicity stage because that’s the nature of RNA virus. Covid virus is something which is rapidly mutating. The existing Omicron virus BA.1 and BA.2 has more than 623 sub-mutations and sub lineages.
So, they are continuing to evolve but the overall intensity, infectivity and pathogenicity and severity is decreasing.
More importantly, the overall death rate due to covid-19 is continuing to decrease. The reasons are: it is milder and the second reason is that India’s more than 98% of population is fully vaccinated now.
