903 Cases in Cornell University including Omicron

COVID-19 Tally showed a jump in the number of infections


Ithaca: Cornell University has reported 903 COVID-19 cases among their students from December 7 to 13.

 

Officials have said that most of them are Omicron positive cases in which individuals are fully vaccinated, reported CNN.

 

The COVID-19 dashboard of the university was updated on Tuesday and showed a rise in the number of infections.

 

Joel Malina, Vice President for University Relations, said that virtually each and every case of the Omicron variant till date has been found in fully vaccinated students only; few of them had also received a booster shot. Nearly 97 per cent of the students are fully vaccinated in the university.

 

Due to a massive rise in infections, the university has closed the Ithaca campus in New York State.

 

Final semester exams have been switched to online, athletics and other activities have been suspended while the libraries are ordered to be closed till further orders
