A 1.5inch organ is inside your throat and you have never known or heard about it

Organ in your throat!

Dutch researchers have found a set of previously unknown large salivary glands in the space where the nasal cavity meets the throat. When confirmed these could be the first of their kind discovered in 300 years!

The researchers were studying prostate cancer using a combination of CT scans and position emission tomography (PET) scans called PSMA PET-CT when they noticed a new organ inside the throat. It is said to be useful in the treatment of cancer.

The findings of this study have been published in the Radiotherapy and Oncology Journal. Scientists at Netherlands cancer Institute  have confirmed the presence of the glands after studying around 100 patients.

It had always been believed that the Nasopharynx region hosted microscopic, salivary glands, but the new organ is said to be of 1.5 inches in length at an average.

Prior to this discovery there were three salivary glands known to humans- one under the tongue, one at the back of the jaw and one behind the cheek. There is no doubt that there are thousands of salivary glands inside the mouth which work and aid the process of lubrication.

The new glands which are recently discovered by the very talented team of the Dutch Scientists may be a gateway to study and experiment more on the throat and to understand the problems of infections, diseases and difficulty in breathing as well as chewing.

Upon receiving confirmation it will be wise to accept these new found glands as a new discovery made by mankind towards the kind of people and for a better and safer life for everyone around the world, at least medically.
