A UP official got arrested for assaulting a woman employee in a viral video

Ichcha Ram Yadav- undersecretary of UP state Govt. got arrested for harassing an employee

Lucknow: A State Govt. official arrested in Uttar Pradesh who was caught on camera forcing himself on a woman employee has been arrested in Lucknow after videos of the assault surfaced on social media.

An FIR was lodged against the accused, Ichcha Ram Yadav - an undersecretary in the Uttar Pradesh administration. But he was not arrested until yesterday when videos of his attack on the woman went viral.

The viral video was captured by the 30-year-old woman, a contractual employee at the UP Minority Welfare Department.

The horrifying video shows the accused man, Ichcha Ram Yadav, relentlessly assaulting the woman, unfazed by her attempts to push him away and protect herself. In one video, he appears to kiss her.

According to the sources, yet it is not clear why the accused wasn't arrested after the complaint was lodged more than a week ago, given the severity of her charge.

Sharing the videos of the offensive act, journalist Arvind Chauhan tweeted, “Man posted as a secretary in the minority welfare department is caught physically forcing himself on an ad-hoc woman employee. FIR lodged in Hussainganj police station. The video was shot by the victim. Have blurred to safeguard her identity.”

In the tweet by the Uttar Pradesh Police, the accused was seen behind the bars through a photograph this morning. Moreover, many Twitter users questioned the UP police's belated action.

As per the victim statement, she was working as a computer operator with the Minority Welfare department since 2013. The accused Ichcha Ram allegedly started assaulting her in 2018.

He allegedly promised to confirm her job if she played along and threatened to sack her if she didn't. He even threatened to destroy her and kill her, the woman said.
