Ahmedabad bans the selling of Non-vegetarian foods

Ban imposed on food stalls and public places

On Tuesday, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) imposed a ban on the sale of Non-vegetarian food items including stalls of public places and roads.

According to the statement, Gujarat chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel said, "it is not a question of vegetarian and non-vegetarian. People are free to eat whatever they want. But the food being sold at the stalls should not be harmful and should not obstruct traffic flow." Said the CM. Adding more he said, "some people eat vegetarian food, some people eat non-vegetarian food, the BJP government doesn't have any problem with it.

This decision came into the limelight after the city witnessed a lot of complaints about the sale alongside the public roads and a decision was taken in the meeting of the committee.

According to the statement given to ANI, Devang Dani, the committee chairman said, "stalls selling non-vegetarian items will not be allowed along public roads and in the 100-meter radius of schools, colleges, and religious places, the town planning committee of Ahmedabad has decided on this matter. Adding more he said, "there were complaints, especially morning walkers, residents, visiting religious places and parents of foul smell from these carts. They were leaving negative impacts on the minds of the young children, said the chairman.

Clarifying the matter, CM mentioned the state government has no problem with different food habits of people and that decision was taken with hygiene and civic issues in mind.
