Alert in Noida as fatal 'viral fever' cases rise in western Uttar Pradesh

Western Uttar Pradesh is on high alert as reports of multiple deaths due to a “viral fever” have been reported. The health department urged people to be cautious against vector-borne diseases like malaria, and advised to consult a doctor in case of any problem instead of self-help. Some western UP districts, Mathura, Firozabad, Mainpuri have seen a spike in number of cases related to “viral fever”. Recently, it has been found out that the illness has claimed several lives.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Sunil Sharma citing this season of vector-borne diseases and the number of deaths found in Mathura district due to the fever has raised an alert in Gautam Buddh Nagar district. He added that free of cost services will be provided in all government hospitals and any person with visible symptoms of malaria would be examined at government hospitals including CHCs and PHCs. People should also maintain water-related hygiene at homes, said CMO.

Regarding this matter, all auxiliary nurse midwife (ANMs) and accredited social health activist workers (ASHA) have been asked to go around in their areas on daily basis to report cases regarding fever to health department officials at community health centres, primary health centres, and government hospitals in helping people to get tested.
