Amit Khatri walks to win silver medal in World Athletics U20 Championships

Amit Khatri becomes the fifth individual Indian athlete, winner at World Athletics U20 Championships.


In the World Athletics U20 Championships at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya, Indian athlete Amit Khatri won the silver medal in the men’s 10,000m race walk. Amit clocked 42 minutes 17:94 seconds while hosts Haristone Wanyonyi won the gold medal with a time of 42:10.84s and Paul McGrath took bronze in 42:31:11s. In the World Athletics U20 Championships, Amit brought a second medal for India while on an opening day on Wednesday India mixed 4X400m relay team bagged the bronze medal.

Amit Khatri becomes the fifth individual Indian athlete, winner at World Athletics U20 Championships. Amit, marked number sixth position in the world Athletics U20 Championships, apart from Seema Antil, Navjeet Kaur Dhillon, Neeraj Chopra, Hima Das, (Barath, Priya, Kapil, and Summy).

In addition, this was the first international competition for Amit where he faced high altitude breathing problems (Nairobi almost 2000 meters), but he was very happy to accomplish the hopes of India.
