Mumbai Police claims that Arnab Goswami bribed ex- BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta "lakhs" to manipulate TRP.
Mumbai Police alleged Republic TV editor Arnab Goswami bribed senior officials as well as ex- BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta "lakhs" in order to manipulate TRP (television rating point).Mumbai Police submitted a remand note in magistrate court on Monday alleging Dasgupta as the main accused behind the TRP scam. Dasgupta was taken into custody last week as he was charged with manipulation of viewership for his personal interest. Now the police seek an extended custody of Dasgupta for further investigation so as to gain access to other names involved in the scam.
According to the remand note, Goswami had friendly relations with Dasgupta and had given him money from time to time who was the CEO of BARC from June 2013 to November 2019. Dasgupta used the money to buy expensive items which were seized from his residence. It included 59 bangles, 62 earrings, 6 rings and 12 necklaces while the silverware was worth Rs 2.22 lakh. Some immovable property and a wrist watch worth Rs 1 lakh, a laptop and an iPad have also been seized. Dasgupta is the fifteenth person arrested in the TRP scam.
