Around 3.5 Lakh Doctors will Protest today, for the demanding law on violence against medicos

In a nationwide protest today, around 3.5 lakh doctors of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has come up demanding a central law dealing with violence against medicos.


In a nationwide protest which will be taking place today, around 3.5 lakh doctors of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has come up together in this, in demanding a central law dealing with violence against medicos.

In the statement of IMA national president Dr. JA Jayalal it has been said that groups of organizations such as the Association of Physicians of India, the Association of Surgeons of India, the Medical Students Network, Junior Doctor Network will be participating in the protest. Some of the states like Bihar and in central Kerala, doctors have to shut their clinics in the morning to press for the demand of a central law against violence against doctors. Moreover, in the evening public interaction has been arranged in the form of the team in each branch of IMA to stop such violence from taking place.

Due, to the pandemic, each day many people lost their lives in which, doctors and healthcare people are facing physical violence which has been occurring day by day said by IMA. Talking about 2019, Bill by The Health Services Personnel and Clinical Establishment (Prohibition of Violence and Damage to Property which sought to impose a jail term of up to 10 years for assaulting on-duty doctors and other healthcare professionals was dismissed by the Home Ministry as a special law in terms of not feasible health is a state, it addressed. Talking about much central health law such as the PCPNDT Act and the Clinical Establishment Act. But exactly now, 21 states have local laws, but what we need is a strong central law to protect doctors from violence.

The memorandums will be also submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior ministers including home minister Amit Shah. All branches of IMA would submit memoranda to local authorities.In this protest, students would be also taking part as seeing the  physical violence happening with doctors and health workers.

The IMA has also requested the government to enhance security features in every hospital and declare hospitals as protected zones
