Arvind Kejriwal promises free Covid-19 Vaccine

Delhi CM on Wednesday after taking to the center said that Delhi government will be providing vaccine for free.


Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said he had called on the central government to provide the Covid-19 vaccine free of charge to all, adding that the Delhi government would do so if the Center did not do so. "I urge everyone not to spread false information about the Covid vaccine. I have appealed to the central government to provide free Covid vaccine to everyone. If the institution does not do so and the need arises, the vaccine will be provided free of charge to the people of Delhi," Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal was visiting the family of Dr Hitesh Gupta who lost his life on the job of Covid-19. "We had started a program to encourage corona heroes and under them, helped with Rs. 1 crore. His wife is educated and we will look for a job for her in the Delhi government," he said.

India's number of coronavirus diseases (Covid-19) rose to 10,495,147 on Wednesday after the Union Health Ministry reported that the country had contracted 15,968 new infections in the past 24 hours. A total of 17,817 new acquisitions took the total number of cases found to 10,129,111, the department's dashboard indicated.

There were 202 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the dashboard was shown, reducing the death toll to 151,529. The active cases, meanwhile, are 2,051 and are 214,507, according to the data. The cases found, active cases and deaths accounted for 96.49%, 2.07% and 1.44% respectively for the total number of cases in the country. This comes at a time when the delivery of the pan-India vaccine is taking place, with a major global vaccination campaign scheduled to start on January 16th.

On Tuesday, the first day of delivery of the vaccine, a total of 5.65 million vaccines were transported from Pune to various cities in the country, including Delhi. In a statement to Prime Minister Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said 30 million workers would be vaccinated first, and 300 million citizens would be vaccinated in the next few months.
