Ban extended in Tamil Nadu till October 31, public gatherings prohibited

While addressing, Tamil Nadu CM also warned the extension of the ban of “super spreader events” till October end.


The Tamil Nadu government has extended ban on public, political gatherings in view of Covid-19 till October 31. On Thursday (9 September) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin implemented a ban on festivals, social and religious gatherings.

Apart from Ganesh Chaturthi, there are some upcoming festivals such as Gandhi Jayanti, Dussehra celebrations, Milad un-Nabi, Valmiki Jayanti and Karva Chauth during which public rush is likely to increase the Covid-19 cases and lead to a disturbing environment that had happened during the second wave of the pandemic. The decision comes as part of a stringent measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to safeguard from the possible third wave of coronavirus.

Whereas the Chief Minister has also advised people of the state to worship and celebrate the festivals at their homes in wake of the Covid-19. While addressing, he also warned the extension of the ban of “super spreader events” till October end.
