BCCI makes MS Dhoni mentor of Indian cricket team for T20 World Cup

The decision came as a surprise for everyone as the 40-year-old Dhoni had retired from international cricket last year.

The BCCI on Wednesday made former Indian cricket team Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni the mentor of a 15-member team that will play in the T20 World Cup. The tournament will be held in UAE and Oman in the months of October and November.

The decision came as a surprise for everyone as the 40-year-old Dhoni had retired from international cricket last year. "Former India Captain @msdhoni to mentor the team for the T20 World Cup," announced BCCI secretary Jay Shah in a press conference.

Mr Shah said that he had discussed this with Mr Dhoni in Dubai and he had agreed to be the mentor but only for the T20 World Cup tournament. Mr Shah added that he had discussed the same with his colleagues as well as Captain Virat Kohli and Vice-Captain Rohit Sharma and all of them were on the same page.
