Bengal makes negative COVID-19 report compulsory for arrivals from 4 states

A negative RT-PCR test report has been made mandatory on arrival of travellers from four states- Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Telangana.


The state government of West Bengal announced on Wednesday that people arriving from four states- Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Telangana, where a sudden spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases have been reported lately, will have to produce a negative RT-PCR test on arrival.

The negative report has been made mandatory for the travellers before entering into the state. “All passengers coming to West Bengal from the aforementioned 4 states shall mandatorily carry a covid negative RT-PCR report for such test conducted within 72 hours of flight departure,” the notice stated.

The notice will come into effect from 12 noon of February 27 and the test will be considered valid if the test was conducted within 72 hours of flight departure. So far, West Bengal has registered 10,256 deaths due to COVID-19.
