Bharat Biotech issues advisory amid concerns

580 cases of adverse reactions have been reported so far, as per the government.

Bharat Biotech has issued an advisory for the people of the nation regarding who should not get inoculated. This advisory came after the government said that 580 cases of adverse reactions have been reported so far. The vaccination drive started on January 16 with two COVID vaccines- Covishield and Covaxin. Covaxin is the COVID-19 vaccine that has been manufactured by Bharat Biotech.

Earlier the government had said that the patients who are suffering from immunodeficiency or are taking immuno-suppressants can also get inoculated but the effect of the vaccine will be less on such people. Immuno-suppressed people include the ones who are diagnosed with cancer or are HIV - positive and the ones who are on steroids. Now, Bharat Biotech has issued a warning for people mentioning the possibilities that can affect them if they get vaccinated.

People who should not get vaccinated as per the guidelines of Bharat Biotech are- those who have allergies, fever, any bleeding disorder, are on a thinner, are immunocompromised or are on a medicine that affects one's immune system. This also includes pregnant and breastfeeding women or who have received another COVID-19 vaccine.

Recipients have also been warned of severe allergic reactions that may include difficulty in breathing, swelling of the face and throat, rashes all over the body, fast heart-beat, dizziness and weakness. The pharma company has also said that all recipients will be part of follow-ups for a period of three months after they get their second dose of vaccination.
