Brazil Para Badminton: Gold and silver for Tarun, Kadam respectively

India Bags 28 medals in Brazil Para Badminton


Sukant Kadam and Tarun Dillion won silver and gold respectively in the ‘SL4’ category at the Brazil Para Badminton International at Sao Paulo while Tokyo Paralympic champion Pramod Bhagat bagged two bronze medals in the ‘SL3’ event.

India bagged a total of 28 medals in the tournament. The Indian Para Badminton Contingent won eight gold, seven silver and 13 bronze medals.

In the SL4 category, world number 3 Sukant Kadam defeated Marshal Adam of Germany by 21.19, 21.13 but lost to Tarun in the final.

The match between Tarun and KAdam was very exciting but in the end Tarun won by 21.17, 20.22 and 21.18.

Kadam said – I am a little disappointed with the result as I had put everything in the match. Tarun played well and scored the deciding points. I am improving my game in every tournament.world number one BHagat was defeated by Kumar Nitesh by 21.7, 19.21 and 21.19.

Nitesh won the gold medal by defeating Daisuke Fujihara of Japan by 21.15, 18.21 and 21.18.

In the mixed doubles, Pramod Bhagat and Palak kohli were defeated by Japan's Fujihara and Akiko Sugino in three sets.

Apart from Nitesh and Tarun, Parul Parmar, arwaz Ansari, Mandeep Kaur, Jyoti Parmar, Jyoti Verma, Manisha Ramdas, Hardik Makkar, Rutik Raghupati and Deep Ranjan Bisoi also won gold medals.
