Britain Puts India On Red List, Prohibits the Entry of Passengers

Britain imposed travel ban amid growing corona cases in India. Indian citizens are prohibited to enter into Britain, British citizens will be quarantined. Yesterday, Boris Johnson cancelled his India tour.

Britain has added India in the red list of those countries. Under this, non-British and Irish citizens' entry from India to the UK will be restricted. Also, it has been made mandatory for Britons returning from abroad to stay in segregation for 10 days in a hotel. Yesterday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also cancelled his visit to India.

Health Minister Matt Hancock authenticated this in the House of Commons. He said that there were 103 cases in Britain suffering from the so-called Indian form of corona virus. Most of these cases relate to travellers returning from abroad. He said that the form was analyzed to ascertain whether the new form had alarming results, such as its widespread spread or difficulty in treating and preparing vaccines.

Ban on India was a tough decision, but the minister told the MPs that after analysing the data, as a precaution, we took a difficult but mandatory decision to put India on the red list. Under the new rules, if a non-British or Irish has lived in India for the last ten years, then they cannot be given entry in Britain. Hancock said the new rules are not being taken lightly and will come into effect from Friday.

Yesterday, Britain’s Prime Minister's Office Downing Street announced the cancellation of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's visit next week in view of the sharp rise in Corona virus cases in the country. Earlier, when Johnson was asked if India would be added in the red list, he said that the judgement was to be made by the UK's Health Protection Agency to a large extent.
