All options for India at the Thailand Open Super-1000 event ended on Thursday as Saina Nehwal and doubles teams were knocked out while Kidambi Srikanth pulled out of the tournament due to injury. Nehwal lost to Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan with a total score of 23-21, 14-21, 16-21 in a 68 minutes battle. Nehwal played well in the first game but was outplayed by the Thai shuttler in the next two. World no.12 Busanan defeated Nehwal for the fourth time. "She controlled the shuttle quite well. But I am faster than her and played with 100% commitment to win every point," said Busanan

Later in the day, the mixed doubles pair of Satwik and Ashwini Ponnappa went down 12-21, 17-21 to Tak Ching Chang and Ng Wing Yung of Hong Kong.

Srikanth pulled out of the tournament due to calf muscle strain. "Very sad to let you all know that I have been advised to pull out of the Thailand Open due to calf muscle strain. I am hoping to be fit by next week for the next round of Thailand leg," Srikanth tweeted. Indian team will now compete in the second tournament starting next Tuesday.
