Champions League: PSG Defeated Real Madrid By 1-0

Mbappe scored a late goal to give PSG a home win over Real Madrid

PSG has done it! They have defeated the Spanish giants Real Madrid by 1-0 in the Champions league round of 16. It was once again Kylian Mbappe who scored the goal for the French side.

It took PSG 94 minutes to find the winner with a brilliant run by Mbappe. PSG missed several chances as the wall of Real Madrid denied them quite a few times.

“It was a great game for us and I’m always ready to help my team, there are no distractions,” said Mbappe. Mbappe has now scored 13 goals in his last champions league matches. “We have to be humble and the second leg is still open. It will be a hard game but we have the advantage and we are very confident.”

Real Madrid finished the game with zero shots on target while PSG had eight, with almost 60 percent of possession. Madrid will play the second leg on March 8 without Casemiro and Ferland Mendy.

The pair was shown yellow cards and will be suspended in the next game. “Our counter-attack didn’t work today,” Courtois told the reporters.

“It’s hard to lose but the second leg is wide open. We have to win and we will try to do it infront of our fans, which is a great advantage.”

Courtois repeatedly denied Messi and Mbappe. His best save came early in the second half when Messi stepped up for the penalty after Mbappe had been fouled inside the area by Dani Carvajal.

The Real Madrid manager said, “Mbappe is the best player in European football. We didn’t play well but we are not dead yet.”
