Chandigarh records hottest day of the month with 37°C

With the maximum recorded temperature rising up to 37 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, Chandigarh recorded the highest temperature of the year so far. At five degrees above the normal temperature recorded on Wednesday is also the hottest day in Chandigarh. 

According to the India Meteorological Department, this is the highest that the maximum temperature has gone this month in Chandigarh. The mercury may rise to 39 degrees by the end of the week and with no rain cards. 

Though the 5 degrees above normal, the maximum temperature on Wednesday was still lower than 37.8 degrees Celsius on March 31, 2021, the hottest day of the month last year. The all - time highest temperature in the month was 38.2 degrees Celsius on March 25, 2010. 

In April 2010, the city had witnessed a maximum temperature of 43.2 degrees Celsius, which has been the highest for April. Normally, in the month of April, the temperatures start rising and almost touch the mark. 

Meanwhile the minimum temperature recorded a slight dip from 17.6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday to 17.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, but was still no notches above normal. It is expected to remain between 16 degrees Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius over the next three days. 

Due to intense heat conditions prevailing already, the weatherman has predicted a warmer summer this year.
