Chennai Metro trains will run till 11 pm on weekdays

CMRL said the time of the service will be from 5.30 am to 11 pm on weekends


Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) announced today, the metro train services will be given an extension on weekdays till 11 pm, because of requests from the passengers for more extra time on the weekend. CMRL said the time of the service will be from 5.30 am to 11 pm on weekends besides, in the Green line between, St. Thomas Mount till  Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M G Ramachandran Central Metro stations, the Blue line between Airport and Wimco Nagar metro stations)  will have slightly earlier timings of 5.30 am to 10 pm.

Meanwhile, the rush hour is from 8 am to 11 am and 5 pm to 8 pm and with metro service  with an advance of   5 minutes. Trains during off-hours will continue to run with an advance of 10 minutes. In addition on Sunday and public holidays, the train will arrive every 10 minutes, the train runs from 7 am to 9 pm.

The service resumed with 50 percent occupancy in Green and Blue Lines in Chennai from June 21, as per lockdown restrictions in the state. Besides, CMRL is providing regular sanitizing of the trains and stations .Passengers are expected to wear the mask and ensure social distancing. Rs 200 will be charged by  CMRL for not wearing a mask or wearing in the incorrect way,a total fine of Rs 35,200 has been collected from 176 passengers, in between the period of June 21 to August 21 this year.
