Chhattisgarh CM urged Centre to ban air travel: Omicron threat

Many other state CMs urged the centre to impose the ban


On Wednesday, the Chattisgarh Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel said that air travel should be banned between India and countries carrying omicron cases. 


According to the statement, the Chief Minister said, "Air travel should be banned between India and  the countries where the omicron variant is spreading. Otherwise, the passengers coming from these countries to India will spread the virus in the country." Adding more, he said, "safety lies in prevention. We need to maintain hygiene around us. We should regularly wash our hands and ensure cleanliness." Said the CM.


Meanwhile, on Wednesday the government decided not the resume the international flights which were scheduled to ply from December 15. This decision came after the spread of the new Omicron variant. Which is creating fear in traveling and the risk of getting contaminated with the virus is also high.


Not only the chhatisgarh Chief Minister, but Many other Chief Ministers are on the list including the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also urged the Centre to impose a travel ban due to spike in cases and protect the country from getting infected with the new Variant.


As per the information, a new travel guideline has been issued by the government mentioning seven-day mandatory quarantine, RT -PCR on arrival for all the international passengers arriving in India.
