China's Sinopharm Vaccine Not Effective For People Over 60 Years Of Age

Pakistan claims that China’s Sinopharm vaccine is not effective for people over 60 years of age.China had donated five lakh Sinopharm vaccines to Pakistan which were taken on an aircraft from Pakistan on Monday.

Faisal Sultan, the Pakistani Prime Minister's special assistant for health affairs, said that after considering the preliminary analysis of the data, the expert committee of Pakistan suggested that the vaccine be applied only to people in the age group of 18 to 60 years. "The committee has not authorized a Sinopharm vaccine for people older than 60 years at this stage”, He said, adding that after getting more data, a decision will be made whether it can be used for the elderly. Pakistan started its countrywide coronavirus vaccination programme on Wednesday, with the first jabs administered simultaneously in all four provinces, a day after Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the immunization drive in capital Islamabad.

Praising the Chinese vaccine, Pakistan's Health Advisor Dr. Faisal Sultan said on the occasion that China's Sinopharm has proved effective. He said that I want to tell you about the Sinopharm vaccine that is 79 to 86 percent effective. He said that 70 percent of the country's population will get vaccinated by the end of the year.

It is being told that China had put a condition in front of Pakistan to give Sinopharm's corona vaccine free, that it should take the vaccine at its own expense. But  poverty-stricken Pakistan spent at least 1 month planning to send an airplane. Seeing that the vaccine was not received from any other country, the Imran Khan government finally sent a special aircraft to China on Sunday and ordered the vaccine.
