Cinema halls, auditoriums and theaters to reopen in Maharashtra

Only 50 per cent capacity is permitted with strict Covid-19 protocols


On Friday, Maharashtra state reopens cinema halls, auditoriums and theatres with 50 per cent seating capacity with strict Covid-19 protocols. Maharashtra Government also permits amusement parks to reopen (dry) without any water ride in the state. This decision came after the state witnessed a slowdown in Covid-19 cases.

According to the statement, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said its Standard operating procedure (SOP) will apply only to those cinema halls, drama theatres and auditoriums in Mumbai which fall under its civic jurisdiction.

In the previous week, the Maharashtra Government also issued statewide orders detailing the standard operating procedures (SOP) for all such establishments that can operate with 50 per cent capacity. 

List of Standard operating procedures (SOP) : 

Food packages are not permitted inside the theatre.

Movie watchers are required to wear face masks.

Sanitisers to be available in entry, exit as well as washrooms.

Thermal screening is mandatory.

Show timings will be "staggered " and only packaged food packets and beverages will be permitted. 

Visitors must be vaccinated and carry a vaccination certificate.

Maharashtra state witnessed a deadly scenario during the Covid-19 pandemic which led to a shutdown in the daily schedule in terms of educational institutions, offices, workspace and public gathering places, parks, malls and many more places. Knowing more about the cinema halls which were closed since march 2020. They were also reopened in November but was closed.
