Communal Clash in Gujarat's Vadodara; 40 Arrested

A clash broke out between two religious groups!


Vadodara: On Monday, forty people were arrested after a communal clash broke out at a vegetable market in Savli town of Vadodara, said police.

"40 arrested so far. A Muslim festival is coming up, owing to which a local group had tied their religious flag on an electronic pole. There is a temple nearby too," said Vadodra rural police PR Patel.

A clash broke out after another local group went to convey how their religious sentiments were hurt. Stone pelting resulted in damage to nearby vehicles.

An FIR has been filed and accused from both the communities have been arrested.

First information reports (FIR) were lodged by both the groups on Saturday night, after which 43 persons were booked for unlawful assembly, and rash acts endangering human life, said Savli police station sub-inspector Savli police station sub-inspector, new agency reported.

According to Vadodra police, patrolling is underway and the situation is under control as for now. The police official also said that several nearby vehicles were damaged in the stone pelting.

“FIR has been filed. Accused from both sides, 25 and 15 people, have been arrested till now. Police patrolling is underway,” said the Vadodara Police official.

He further added that the situation is under control now.
