Congress’s Protest March Against Farm Laws Led by Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi leads Congress’s protest march for farmers against the farm laws.

In solidarity with the farmers protesting in the borders of Delhi since November end against the new farm laws introduced by the Center the leader of the Congress party Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra today protested outside the official residence of Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal with Rahul Gandhi leading the protest march.

The campaign is popularly known as ‘Speakup for Kisan Adhikar’ is a part of the protest which was formed to back the farmers' protest. The Kisan Adhikar Divas (Farmer Rights Day) is being observed by Congress today and all the congress units in the states have been asked to congregate around all the Raj Bhawans in the respective states. Outside Raj Niwas MR Gandhi said “BJP government will have to withdraw the farm laws. The Congress will not relent till these laws are repealed. These laws are not to help farmers but to finish them.” He alleged that “The Narendra Modi government earlier tried to take away the land of the farmers, when it brought the land acquisition Act and the Congress party stopped them at that time. Now the BJP and their own two-three friends are once again attacking the farmers and have brought these 3 farm laws.”

The farmer union leaders today are meeting the government for the ninth time to break the deadlock against the farmers’ demands of repealing the farm laws. Farmers from different parts of the country and maximum participation from the states of Haryana and Punjab are protesting at the various borders in the capital bearing the winter chills and rains in order to repeal the laws. Ahead of the march towards Raj Niwas today Mr Gandhi tweeted on twitter saying “The ‘annadata’ of the country are doing Satyagraha against the arrogant Modi government for their rights. Today, the entire India is raising its voice against the atrocities on farmers and the rising prices of petrol and diesel. You too join and become a part of this Satyagrah. #SpeakUpForKisan Adhikar.

A virtual meeting organised by the congress on January 9 had already decided in the meeting to go aggressive against the Center and ‘will hit ground’ against the three contentious farm laws.
