Corona Curve dips in New Delhi

Delhi reported less than 100 cases of COVID-19 with nine deaths in the last 24 hours


This is the first time in the National Capital, which has witnessed three waves of coronavirus strain, than less then 100 cases per day have been registered. 

Less than half of the usual testing on Republic Day, showed overall positivity rate has also been on a decline. The city's positivity rate, which shot to about 15 % at the peak of the new wave of strain, throwing up about 8,500 cases in a day, now stands at 0.32 per cent as per the Data.

There were 6,34,325 total cases of Covid infection in National Capital among these, around 6.2 lakh patients have fought off the highly virus disease taking the overall recovery rate to 98 per cent. The total Covid-related fatalities stand at 10,829 with a death rate of 1.7 per cent. Active cases in the city-state have gone down to 1,501 as per the data.

The improvement in the situation of pandemic is also reflected in the number of empty beds in Delhi's government as well as in private hospitals. 7 government-run hospitals and all private hospitals were recently allowed to reduce the number of reserved beds for infected patients. The record dip in National Capital’s Covid infections comes amid a similar national trend of cases being at their lowest in almost seven months amid what the government claims is the world's largest vaccination drive.
