COVID AND DENGUE TWINNING WITH TROUBLE

SHORT DESCRIPTION- 40 CASES OF DENGUE IN DELHI


This year is quite exceptional due to the coronavirus pandemic which is simultaneously creating havoc in the capital city. One of the Mosquito-borne diseases "Dengue"is on a rise in Delhi. According to a municipal report, 40 new cases of dengue have been recorded so far in the last week and 11 new cases of malaria and 10 more new cases of Chikungunya have been reported from various parts of Delhi.
Total number of dengue cases reported during this season is 212, out of which approx 20% cases have occurred in the last week.
The areas under South Delhi Municipal Corporation have recorded a maximum number of 73 cases so far, observed by North Delhi Municipal Corporation which is around 54 new cases.The east Delhi areas have seen 14 new cases and 20 new cases in New Delhi's the Municipal Council administered areas.
According to the weekly report by the south corporation, the official stated that "51 cases are still untraced and more 65 cases which have not been counted in the capital’s tally because the infection was developed from some other state"
While COVID cases are still arising and twin conditions of malaria-dengue with COVID is creating an extreme difficulty.
According to the public health experts they suggested that- people should be extremely careful in not allowing water to get accumulated in their neighbourhood that can turn into a breeding site for mosquitoes and creates a problem.According to the senior SDMC official he informed about where “ people are not allowing domestic breeding checkers (DBCs) to enter their homes due to COVID concerns, it becomes even more important that peridomestic containers in houses like money plants, aquariums, tubs and water coolers are regularly checked and the water is changed frequently."Last year data from civic bodies showed that 2.65 crore visits were made by DBCs and this year there is a downfall and it's around 1.55 crore.
