Covid Vaccination For 12-14 Age Group Begins In MP

From Wednesday, The Covid-19 vaccination programme begins for children 12-14 age group in Madhya Pradesh.

The state is focusing on vaccinating 30 lakh children in this age group with the target being 50,000 on the initial day.

CMO, Shivraj Singh Chouhan took to twitter and wrote, "Anti-corona vaccination of children in the 12-14 age group is starting in the state from today (Wednesday). Appeal to all parents to get children vaccinated and provide them protection from Corona. People are requested to help us with making this campaign successful: CM."

CM will launch the drive at the Old Campion grounds in Bhopal.

As per officials, those born in the years 2008, 2009 and up to March 15, 2010 will be eligible for vaccinations. Children aged 12 and 13 years will be given Corbevax and those aged above 14 will be administered Covaxin.

“Covid-19 vaccination for children in the age group of 12-14 years will start from March 21. Only Corbevax vaccine would be used for the beneficiaries,” the notification issued by the state health department said.

The department asked vaccinators to ensure that the vaccine is “administered to only those children who have completed the age of 12 years on the date of the vaccination”.

On Thursday, West Bengal reported 94 fresh COVID-19 cases, 29 more than the previous day, with the tally rising to 20, 16,675, the health department said.

The death number rose to 21,192 as one more person succumbed to the disease.

At least 132 more people recuperated from the disease since March 17, pushing the total number of recoveries to 19, 94,314, a health department bulletin said on Thursday.

West Bengal now has 1,169 active cases.

Total 18,478 samples have been tested since Wednesday, taking the total number of such clinical examinations to 24,563,360.
