Cyclone Nivar to intensify into hurricane and hit Tamil Nadu Today Evening

Cyclone Nivar would be hitting TN and Puducherry Today evening, the counselling scheduled for yesterday has been cancelled


According to a recent forecast by the Indian Meteorological Department on Tuesday, Hurricane Nivar could fall between Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu and Karaikal in the Puducherry region.The Nivar is likely to intensify into a hurricane over the next 12 hours, and it will continue to storm over the next 24 hours.The first cyclonic storm of northeast rainfall this year is likely to bring heavy rainfall in one or two areas of the delta region and the northern coastal regions of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The coming cyclone is named “Nivar”, as suggested by Iran. Recently a list was compiled by a panel of the World Meteorological Organization, currently the most depressed climate system is at southwest of the Bay of Bengal, about 360 km northeast of Puducherry and 420 km southeast of Chennai. As the northern regions of Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry adjacent to Hurricane Nivar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday morning spoke to both chief Ministers to review the preparations of the upcoming storm.

Meanwhile psychological counseling and Admission counseling for the MBBS / BDS course, scheduled for November 24 has been stopped for now and proper rescheduled dates will be announced later, a media statement said.The health department said it would make the necessary arrangements for candidates who had arrived for counseling.
