Delhi Police Arrests Deep Sidhu

Delhi police arrested Deep Sidhu

Delhi Police has arrested the actor turned activist Deep Sidhu on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in the January 26 Republic Day violence in Delhi. The Delhi Police Special Cell on Tuesday said, “Deep Sidhu, an accused of 26 Jan violence case arrested.” The Republic Day violence case has been investigated in three levels- local police, Special Cell and Crime Branch

In the FIR registered by the Delhi Police on the Republic Day violence case the name of actor Deep Sidhu and gangster Lakka Sadana were included in the FIR, the Delhi Police had said earlier that Sidhu was involved in the incident. The Special Commissioner of Police, Praveer Rajan said “On January 26 some people hoisted the flag at the Red Fort. Some of them have been identified and Deep Sidhu is the prime accused."

On January 26 the protesting farmers did not follow the pre assigned routes and broke multiple barricades to enter the national capital. They then clashed with the police, vandalized properties in several parts of Delhi during the tractor rally. They also entered the Red Fort and unfurled their flag.

The farmers are protesting since November 26 against the three farm laws introduced by the central government as a reform in the agricultural sector. The farmers believe that these farm laws will dismantle the MSP system and over time this will also leave them at the mercy of the big corporate, therefore they demand the government to repeal the 3 farm laws.
