Delhi's biggest graveyard runs out of burial space due to rise in Covid-19 deaths

Shortage of Space in Graveyard Due to Rise In Covid infection

The largest Muslim graveyard in the national capital near ITO is running out of space due to the rise in Covid-19 death with coronavirus victim from other areas also being buried there.

Secretary of Qabristan Alhe Islam, in the vicinity of the walled city, Haji Milan Fiyazuddin said that there should be some agreement so that covid-19 victims are buried at graveyards in the neighbourhood and the relative does not have to come here because of the Limited space.

He also said that the Management Committee will write to Delhi government to help ensure that Covid-19 variables from other parts of the city are not shifted to the graveyard as difficulty faced by the graveyard management is that it also has to provide space for burial of covid-19 patients from neighbouring cities like Noida, Ghaziabad and Meerut who die while undergoing their treatment in Delhi.

Yesterday itself it provided space when a Covid-19 passed away in a hospital. "We do not have any problem but space is the real issue," Haji Milan Fiyazuddin said, he further added that if the current rate of the barriers continue there could be a difficulty in accommodating even normal burial in around 2 months.

Delhi reported 121 deaths due to covid-19 on Monday on Sunday 121 fertility post the death count 28,391 said the authorities.
