Delhi under 4th wave, but no plan for lockdown as of now: Kejriwal

Decision on a shutdown will be taken after consulting people


Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Friday claimed that Delhi is seeing 4 waves of coronavirus but the imposition of lockdown is not considered yet at this time. Addressing a press conference Kejriwal said we are not imposing lockdown but if there is a need in the future, a decision will be taken after consulting the people.The rising number of coronavirus is a cause of concern for all Delhi people but the Delhi government will take essential steps to contain the contagion.

Delhi reported 2,790 covid cases in the last 24 hours. The number of tests conducted also went up from 78,073 on Thursday to 87,505 on Friday. The government has also started random testing at the airport, metro stations, and bus stations to screen people which also witnessed a spike in covid 19 cases. Besides, the Delhi government will start vaccination at war footing if the central government will give permission.

As of now, CM urged to open vaccination for everyone instead of keeping It restricted to specific age groups.  As of Thursday  71,000 were vaccinated but now the capacity is 96,000. Delhi government  is also focusing on hospital management for ensuring more number of ICO beds, ambulance, ventilator.

The CM urged people to strictly follow all covid protocols, especially wearing masks, hand hygiene, and social distancing. further, if a shutdown will take place in the future it will be taken after consulting the people.
