Earthquake hits Jhajjar in Haryana with 3.7 magnitude, tremors felt in Delhi

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) on Monday night said a 3.7-magnitude earthquake hit Jhajjar in Haryana. The earthquake struck at a depth of 5 kms at 10:36 pm, tremors of which were felt in Delhi and adjoining areas, according to the NCS. The Delhi-NCR region has reported a few low intensity earthquakes since last year. On June 20, a quake of magnitude 2.1 hit the Punjabi Bagh area. In order to monitor the seismic activity in and around the national capital, the NCS has deployed additional earthquake recording instruments. According to the analysis of satellite images, signatures of active faults have been observed at various locations.
