Ensure Buffer Stock For Oxygen And Medical: Centre To States

Covid Scare!


On Wednesday, The Centre wrote to all states and UTs urging them to direct departments concerned to ensure adequate buffer stock of medical oxygen for at least 48 hours and reinvigorate oxygen control rooms.


The Covid cases are on the surge. The conditions are again returning to alarming mode. Few states and UTs are witnessing an incessant rise in the cases of deadly Coronavirus. With a precaution, the centre urged the state and UTs to gear up with preparation. To avoid the chaos during the second wave of Covid-19 where medical resources and equipment went scarce.


According to the statement given by Union Health Ministry, said the emerging scenario calls for immediate measures by states and UTs to ensure optimal availability of medical oxygen at all health facilities.

 

The Union Health Secretary, Rajesh Bhushan said, "All steps should be taken for the proper upkeep and maintenance of such plants," further said, "All health facilities providing in-patient care and oxygen therapy should have a buffer stock of medical oxygen sufficient for at least 48 hours, he said All districts should ensure that oxygen concentrators supplied to them are fully functional. Their proper upkeep and maintenance need to be ensured." 


As per the statement given in the letter, All the states have been asked to ensure onboarding of all healthcare facilities utilising oxygen to ODAS digital platform, directly or through State APIs, read the letter.
